Emilie: La Marquise Du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight

By Lauren Gunderson
Directed by Matthew Korda
Performed at the Bartell Theatre on the Drury stage

This is a love story. This is a true(ish) story. An affair of both the heart and mind. Her life and loves are well documented, but Gunderson, through the character of Emilie, takes us into the realm of imagination and philosophy with this retrospective look at what Emilie’s life meant to Emilie. Gunderson cleverly weaves science and emotion together with humor, drama, and history to mirror life itself with all its pain and joy.

Bartell Theatre Health & Safety Update

As we gear up for a return to live theatre this fall, we once again are turning to the CDC and local health officials for guidance. With the alarming rise in new COVID variants we want to take extra steps to ensure that those who attend shows at the Bartell, as well as those performing and working there, are as safe as possible.

The Bartell Theatre Foundation will therefore require proof of vaccination against the COVID-19 virus for all audience members coming into the theatre. In addition, the Bartell will also require proof of vaccination for all cast members, crews, volunteers, and staff working in the theatre.

We will offer exemptions for those unable to be vaccinated, such as children under 12 and people with certain medical conditions preventing vaccination. We ask, if possible, these patrons provide proof of a timely negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours before performance start time.
