Henry the Fifth

By William Shakespeare
Directed by Sam D. White

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.”

Featuring Joshua Woolfolk (Hamlet) as King Henry V. Presented by Madison Shakespeare Company.

His court doubted him.
The French laughed at him.
They didn’t laugh at King Henry V for long.

The young and wild Prince Hal is now King in his own right. After shaking off the rogue Falstaff, Henry sets about creating a legacy for himself. At home, he is widely revered for rallying overmatched English forces to monumental victory. On the international stage, he is deeply reviled for his ambition and aggression.

Underestimated by allies and enemies alike, King Henry shocks them all and makes his indelible mark on the world. This fast-paced modern production shows the man and the king, whose short reign set England on the path to decades of chaos and infighting.

Talkbacks will be held after the Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4 presentations about the intersection of drama and military service. Select members of the cast with military service experience and members of local veterans groups will participate, facilitated by director Sam D. White, himself a US Army veteran.
