Shakespeare’s Rarer Monsters

Tragedy, History, and Romance at the Bartell

The 2017-2018 Bartell Theatre season features a unique collaboration between three theatre companies and the many facets of one legendary playwright. Shakespeare’s Rarer Monsters brings tragedy, history, and romance to the Drury and Evjue stages this year. See all three plays for a special season price of $50.

Shakespeare’s Rarer Monsters explores the volatile intersection of power and human weakness. It begins this September with the early-career revenge tragedy Titus Andronicus, produced by Madison Theatre Guild. In February, Madison Shakespeare Company presents the mid-career coming-of-age story of the young and flawed Prince Hal in Henry the Fourth. Strollers Theatre completes the cycle in May with the late-career romance The Winter’s Tale, a story of a king whose uncontrolled jealousy turns him into a tyrant.

This special offer is only available through the Bartell box office in person, or by phone at 608-661-9696.
