Introducing the Production Team for the 2009/2010 Bartell Theatre Awards
Erin S. Baal(Set Designer)
Erin has been an actor and designer in Madison since 1999 and boy, are her arms tired! Having worked for several of the PTC’s, she was thrilled to be a part of honoring the Bartell’s many extraordinary volunteers tonight! She currently is on the board of directors for Strollers Theatre, but revels in the friendship and cooperation that all of the companies show each other.
Martinique M. Barthel (Stage Manager)
Martinique attended Edgewood College for Acting/Directing from 1996 to 2001 and has been involved with The Bartell Theatre since 2002. Her first production at the Bartell was for Stroller's presentation of Last Night of the Ballyhoo as a Properties Master. Martie has since been a regular at the Bartell; stage managing, acting and directing for several of the PTCs, including Stroller's Theatre, Mercury Players and Madison Theatre Guild. She is an active member of The Bartell Theatre Foundation's Development Committee, sits on the Stroller's Theatre Fundraising Committee and is looking forward to upcoming events such as Stroller's Man of La Mancha (Stage Manager), Mercury's Mercury Rising (Director) not to mention, The Bartell Theatre Awards!
George Gonzalez (MC and Writer)
George is originally from New York City where he studied acting as a child until the age of fifteen. He graduated from the specialized High School of Performing Arts and Music and Art in 1993 where he majored in fine arts, and went on to study Film for two years at The School of Visual Arts. In 2001 he moved to Madison, where he rekindled his desire for the stage, and has worked as an actor, playwright, director, and producer, served on the Mercury Players Theatre Board of Directors, Co- Produced the 2009 Madison Young Playwrights Festival, and is currently a Teaching Artist for the 2010 Madison Young Playwrights Festival. He has had the pleasure of performing with local theatre companies; Stage Q, Mercury Players, Madison Theatre Guild, and Madison Repertory Theatre. In 2004 he served as Audience Services manager and later Marketing Director for Madison Repertory Theatre until the company dissolved in February of 2009 and is currently the Co-Founder and Producing Director for The Bricks Theatre.
Sarah Hoover(Publicity, Financial Management, and Development)
Sarah is the Managing Director of the Bartell Theatre Foundation, a member of Madison Theatre Guild and Strollers, and has worked with all six resident companies of the Bartell. She has also worked with Forward Theatre, the Madison 48-Hr Film Festival, and Wisconsin Wrights. Her background and education in Theatre and Business Administration suit her to the many roles she plays on and off stage.
R. Peter Hunt (MC and Writer)
Peter has been acting in the Midwest since his very first role as Stanley in the Franklin Middle School production of The Ransom of Red Chief in 1993. Since then, he has appeared in several regional commercials, independent films, worked as a motion capture performer with Raven Software, and has been seen onstage in Madison Mercury Players, Strollers, the Laboratory Theatre, the Children's Theatre of Madison, thrustStage, the University Theatre, and the late Madison Rep. Peter recently finished a run as Crumpet/Blisters in the stage adaptation of The SantaLand Diaries.
Matthew Korda (Graphic Designer)
is a freelance graphic designer who has worked primarily with non-profits in the arts and amateur sporting organizations over the past 15 years in Colorado and Wisconsin. His work has been seen on T-shirts, Frisbees, theatre programs, brochures, websites, posters and a tattoo. Matt is also an actor, having worked with Strollers Theatre, Madison Theatre Guild, and Mercury Players.
Tom Littrell (Lighting Designer)
Tom, with wife Stacy, moved to Madison from Dallas in 2004 to work for local lighting equipment manufacturer Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc. Since then he has lit shows at the Bartell Theatre and University of Wisconsin-Madison. In a past life, he was a touring lighting technician, moving light programmer and lighting designer, working with many corporate clients and touring with concert artists such as Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and Genesis.
Rob Matsushita (Writer and Videographer)
Rob is a playwright, actor and filmmaker who has written and produced ten full-length shows in Wisconsin, including “Orange Murder Suit,” which was produced off-off-Broadway for the first annual New York Frigid Festival and "1 SW33T R1DE" which received a Madison production last November with Mercury Players. David Pausch (Writer)
David has worked and/or performed with a variety of arts organizations, including Li Chiao-Ping Dance, Madison Repertory Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, Madison Opera, Mercury Players and Strollers Theatre. He holds an MA in Arts Administration from the Bolz Center for Arts Administration at the Wisconsin School of Business. He is one of the co-founders of the Bricks Theatre in Madison, and is also the donor relations director for the River Alliance of Wisconsin.
Molly Vanderlin (Producer, Director, Development Committee Chair)
Molly has been involved with Madison Theater since 1996 when she acted in her first production at Broom Street Theater. Her love of theater has only grown through the years so she joined the Bartell Theatre Foundation in 2009, heading their Development Committee. She has been a regular at the Bartell Theatre since 2003; acting, directing, producing and taking on front of house duties for most of the 6 Resident companies. She has recently finished a production of StageQ’s “Sappho in Love", and is a company member of The Bricks Theatre.
Jessica Jane Witham (2009/2010 Ms. Bartie)
Jessica can boast over 18 years of local acting experience onstage and in films. in 2009/2010, she appeared onstage as April Green in MTG's production of The Hot L Baltimore and as the title character in MTG's Meg, both of which have earned her nominations for best dramatic actor. She is also a starring character in The Girls, a Claymore Pictures film. Jessica's talents as a director have been showcased with Tearoom Tango, 1SW33TRIDE, and her ongoing work as the Creative Director and Choreogropher (and Foxy Veronica herself) fo Foxy Veronica's Peach Pies, Madison's only Caburlesque troupe. Jessica is the former Associate Artistic Director of Mercury Players Theatre and currently works as an Artistic Associate with Encore Studio for Performing Arts.
